Fring Comes To iPad Before Skype With Group Video

Fring Beats Skype to The Punch

It seems Skype has held out too long to release their app for the iPad while Fring, a popular chat app for the iPhone, has now come to the iPad bringing group video calling, full screen support, and dynamic video quality. The free app also makes excellent use of the iPad’s larger screen.

The new app will be able to communicate with any iOS or Android device running Fring, grants the ability to make voice calls to landlines from your iPad, and includes excellent text chat capabilities as well.

The new app also accesses both of the iPad 2′s cameras, supports simultaneous viewing of multiple video calls on-screen, and features a new drag-and-drop feature for adding contacts to a call.

Fring is a London-based company that develops a well-known instant messaging client for iOS. After improving its client for the last few months, the company is finally taking it a step up: bringing multi-person video conferencing to the iPad while Skype for iPad is still in the air. This is the first App of its kind on the iPad since FaceTime, only allows 2-way video chats.

Fring multiple video conferencing to iOS

Avi Shechter, CEO and Co-founder of Fring says:

Fring is empowering tablet users to unleash the power of their 9.7 inch screens beyond movie watching and gaming to rich, fun personal video communication, […] With Group Video on the iPad, we are changing face to face video chat. Users will now be able to video socialize on big screen tablets enjoying seeing their friends wherever they are- as they commute, sunbathe at the beach or wait for coffee at a café.

According to Fring, users should experience an intuitive interface  and should get beginners started within minutes. The user interface does look clean and appealing.

If you own an iOS device, go grab Fring from the iOS App Store today. Whether you’re using an iPad or a smaller device, you’ll have access to the group video conferencing, although the iPad is experience is by far the prettiest.
