Although it’s been said by HTC that they will no longer be locking the bootloaders on their devices, many recent devices and of course the older ones are still locked down.
HTC announced earlier today on their Facebook page about a web tool that will be launched in August that will unlock the bootloader.
You will be required to register an account with your email address and accept a disclaimer stating that unlocking may void all or parts of your warranty. Then you will will plug in your phone to a computer with the Android SDK loaded and receive a device identifier token. You will enter this into the web tool to receive a unique unlock key via email in which you will apply to initiate bootloader unlocking on your phone
The first devices set to be supported for this will be the global HTC Sensation, T-Mobile’s HTC Sensation, and the Sprint Evo 3D.
Now you can finally have some fun with ROMs and customizing your HTC phones!
