Ubuntu To Take On Mobile Devices

Ubuntu has become one of the larger Linux distributions used today with its user friendly interface. With a large development community and a company like Canonical, they are looking to bring the operating system to tablets, smartphones, and other mobile devices.

At the Ubuntu Developer Summit, Mark Shuttleworth, the founder of Canonical, said that it is now time to start moving Ubuntu to additional devices beyond the PC. Shuttleworth also claims that by April 2014, Ubuntu will power tablets, phones, TVs and smart screens from the car to the office kitchen, and will connect these devices seamlessly to the desktop, the server, and the cloud.

Ubuntu is obviously envious of the Mac OS X based on it’s sleek user interface, but the fact is that Android is a linux based OS and already does what Ubuntu wants to do. Will Ubuntu succeed in becoming competition to Android?
