Sprint has committed to purchasing 30.5 million iPhones over the next four years regardless of whether they are selling to customers. This agreement is near $20 million in iPhones.
In order to compete with AT&T and Verizon, this gambling move should give hope to Sprint and its future. BGR reports that while the iPhone 5 does exist, that it will launch as a Sprint exclusive 4G WiMAX device. If this is indeed the case, there will be many disappointed iPhone users waiting to upgrade if they are on AT&T or Verizon. Will this be enough to make users switch to Sprint, who is also the only carrier left with truly unlimited data plans?
