Lowe’s To Implement 42,000 iPhones For New Payment System

Lowe’s has now entered the digital age. They have recently purchased 42,000 iPhones to implement a new payment system similar to the EasyPay system that Apple Stores use.

Each Lowe’s store will get 25 iPhones to process payments and answer customer questions. These will make their employees walking, talking sources of home improvement information. Employees will be able to do product lookups on the go, check stock, and pull instructional videos up for customers. Soon will come the ability to ring up purchases directly from the phone via Square.

All of this is an attempt to play catch up with their rival, Home Depot, who spent $60 million on Motorola mobile devices last year. The company has also replaced CRT displays with flat panels and opened WiFi in stores for customers.

There is no official date on when one or all of this will take place or be completed, so you may or may not see these changes the next time you visit your local store.
