iOS Is More Secure Than Android

McAfee recently performed a study with results indicating that Android has become the most targeted platform for malware attacks. There is a 76% increase now reaching 44 percent making Android less secure than Apple iOS.

Most of these attacks of malware are disguised as legitimate apps in the Android Marketplace. Some are also marked as “crimeware” which makes money from the affected user by sending them premium rate text messages.

The stock iPhone, iPod, and iPad has no record of ever having been infected by malware. The only known instances are four attacks which were only on jailbroken devices meaning they were more open than from original purchase.

Apple has always been criticized for not allowing apps outside of its own app store and even more so for the strict apps allowed within the store. With Google being less strict and more low quality apps being submitted to the Android Market, is Apple’s method the savior of their system? I think so.
