Google To Compete With iTunes Music Downloads

The long rumored music download service by Google could launch within two weeks.

The Google music store will be an addition to the free Google Music Beta which allows users to upload and manage their music library in the cloud.

It is expected that songs will be available to download for around $.99 each. Google plans to use Google+ to help sales by allowing users to share songs across the social network with friends where they may listen to a song once for free. They would then be presented the option to purchase a copy.

It is unlikely that Google will get rights to sell music from Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group, which may hinder sales. It seems that the two record label groups are unmotivated with the lack of financial incentive seeing how Google Music is free and doesn’t generate revenue for them
