iPhone 4S Is The First Bluetooth 4.0 Smartphone

Bluetooth 4.0 on the iPhone 4S

Bluetooth 4.0 specifications were finalized in July of 2010, but smartphones that support the standard haven’t started to hit the market until now. The first phone to support Bluetooth 4.0 is the iPhone 4S, believe it or not. So it has taken over a year for a company to start using the new standard.

The biggest selling point of the Bluetooth 4.0 PAN standard is its low-power mode, but this won’t have much of an impact on the Apple iPhones. This technology will allow the iPhone 4S to collect data from multiple sensors and accessories simultaneously.

Now that Apple has broken the barrier, expect more manufacturers to start following suit.
