Improve Battery Life on the iPhone 4s

increase iphone 4s battery lifeThe iPhone 4s turned out to be a typical Apple product in the fact that it was marketed to its fullest and came with an inovative feature, this time Siri. Shortly after it gained iOS 5 and again remains a global powerhouse in the mobile market. The only negative to the iPhone 4s is the fact that its added feature and increased power under the hood causes more battery drain than its previous models.

While many users report that their iPhone 4s makes it through their day there are many others that claim to only get around 8 hours with the use of Siri and graphic intense apps to showoff the new specs. There are however steps you can take to improve battery life while keeping your iPhones features in tact.

Instructions to Save iPhone 4s Battery Life:

  1. Turn off location based services when you not using them. Open settings app and turn off location services.
  2. Turn off WiFi when your not using it or if your signal strength is very low. Open settings app and go to the Wifi section.
  3. Turn off Bluetooth when your not using a bluetooth connected device. Bluetooth is easily the highest drain on mobile device battery power. Open settings app go to general and Bluetooth.
  4. Turn off push data unless you just have to have it. Open settings app and select mail, contacts, calendars and Fetch New Data.
  5. Turn off Vibration for events like phone calls, messages and alerts. Most people don’t even notive the vibration unless they have the phone on silent and the vibrations take an enormous amount of battery. Open settings app and then sounds.
  6. Turn on auto-brightness or set the brightness level to 50% instead of always leaving it at 100%. Open Settings app and then brightness.
  7. Set your autolock to 1 minute so that your screen goes to sleep faster when idle. Open settings app then general and auto-lock.
  8. Turn off cellular data whenever you don’t have a connection to a data network or if it is very bad or when you have wifi and don’t need it. Open settings app and select general then network.
  9. Turn off your equalizer by going to settings app, music then EQ. The iPhones music app alters your sound output and results in draining of the battery.

If you are just having a hard time getting your battery to charge like it did when the device was new then you may want to think about restoring the device to its factory state. You can restore the iPhone to its factory state through iTunes although keep in mind that you will lose all apps that are installed and have to reinstall them (but ones paid for will not cost to reinstall)
