How To Change iPhone, iPod, or iPad Unlock Sound

It’s a little annoying that you aren’t able to change many sounds of your iOS device. How about that unlock and respring sounds? Can’t change those by default either, until now. Thanks to iStartupSound, which you can find on Cydia, you can change your unlock and respiring sounds.

Of course this means your iPhone, iPod, or iPad must be jailbroken. If your device isn’t jailbroken, you can check our post here.

Installing iStartupSound will not change your iOS device’s behavior and does not include any type of user interface to use. So you’ll have to do some manual work afterwards. To install, simply open Cydia and search for it, then click install.

In order to replace the default sound with your own, you must be able to SSH into your iPhone, iPod, or iPad which you can find details on here.

Choose a new sound to use. You’ll need to save the audio files in: /var/mobile directory. If the sound you are using is mp3, rename it to startup.mp3. If it is a wav file, rename it to startup.mp3

Now reboot your phone!
