There are several apps and ways to make your Android a WiFi hotspot or able to tether your internet plan. Though most of the time if you do this, you are violating the terms for your carrier.
The best way I’ve found to enable your Android phone as a wireless hotspot is to use an app called Barnacle. Keep in mind your device must be rooted in order to use this app because it requires super user rights.
Barnacle WiFi Tether Features:
- Set custom SSID (default is Barnacle)
- Create a WEP key for security
- Turn on tethering with one click
- Alert you when someone connects to your hotspot
- Only allow certain devices on your hotspot
