Apple released Apple TV 4.4 software the same day as iOS 5, and has since issued a 4.4.1 update which has been pulled the same day.
Version 4.4 added a number of features, including AirPlay video mirering, Photo Stream support, movie trailers, and video content from the NHL and the Wall Street Journal.
The Apple TV 4.4.1 update was reeled to fix an issue where some users had to connect to iTunes. According to many forums and complaints, this “fix” ended up soft bricking Apple TV units. No worries though, all you have to do is connect to iTunes and restore your unit.
The 4.4.1 update has been pulled, but users should be careful applying it once it becomes available again.
