According to code found in the iTunes 10.5 beta 9, it may soon be possible for you to rent iOS apps for your iPad, iPhone, or iPod. At the end of the rental period, the app will be removed from your devices, including your computer. See the snippet of code below.
Expect to hear an announcement from Apple at their keynote presentation Tomorrow at 10am Pacific time. The ability to rent iOS apps could be beneficial for those who want to use expensive applications like GPS navigation apps, but don’t want to pay for the entire thing and only use a time or two.
If Apple does in fact offer this, would you be interested in renting apps? If you are a developer, how would this affect you? Let us know!
