Toshiba will be offering a notebook claiming to be the thinnest one ever made to go up against the thin MacBook Air in November. The Portégé® Z830 Ultrabook will be their first ultraportable notebook and is just 0.63 inches thick and weighs 2.5 pounds.

Toshiba is trying to make this ultra thin laptop available for less than $1000, but hasn’t given a final price. The Portege Z830 may compete well with the MacBook Air if they can keep it below the $1000 mark. The only factor then will be if users prefer Windows or OS X.
