HTC Android Phones Will Be Banned In US Next Year

Apple has yet another victory, this time against HTC which could end in many HTC devices being banned in the U.S.

The courts ruled that HTC was infringing on an Apple patent effecting HTC Android devices running Android 1.6 to 2.2. The patent in question is on a feature of the iPhone which turns a phone number, address, email, or URL into clickable links. The list of HTC Android devices include the Droid Incredible, EVO 4G, T-Mobile G2, Nexus One along with other older Android devices.

Because this is a feature within the OS and not a hardware issue, it is a fixable problem. If HTC decides to no fix the issue, the ban on HTC Android phones in the US will take effect on April 19, 2012.
