Apple Releases Major Updates To Final Cut Pro X And Free Trial

Final Cut Pro X Free Trial

After receiving much criticism from customers and issuing refunds, Apple has released a major update to Final Cut Pro X, making improvements and addressing some issues.

One of the biggest features is support for XML, which will add options to import and export projects in XML format. This means users can open XML formatted projects from Final Cut Pro 7 and other editing software and work on them. Upon initial release of Final Cut Pro X, users were unable to open their projects from previous versions. Now they can export previous projects and import them into the new software. This doesn’t seem to be the fix that users need, but a work around.

Apple has also released a new SDK to camera manufacturers so that they can write Final Cut Pro X plugins for their cameras to work with Final Cut Pro X. This now puts compatibility in the hands of the manufacturers and not updates from Apple.

To cut down on issuing refunds, Apple has made Final Cut Pro X available as a 30-day free trial to give users the opportunity to test out the software before purchasing for $299.99.
